Antica Gebbia continues to receive sabotage, forms of harassment, boycotts, defamatory reviews, and untruthful reviews improperly spread on certain sites, on major web search engines, and through the well-established, serious, and respected BOOKING reservation circuit. Every opportunity is taken to "pick a fight," to cast doubt on professionalism and seriousness, and to create discomfort, even in order to obtain a "discount." Direct booking from the website will soon be activated. We are publishing on the Antica Gebbia website some of the verified reviews for the 2025 season. We inform you that the agriturismo is not and will not be for sale and will not be leased out, as falsely spread by untruthful, unreliable, and untrustworthy sources.
Verified reviews.

Wonderful place. A bit sunny, but since it's countryside surrounded by cultivated fields, that's to be expected. Shaded areas are set up with umbrellas and large pots with plants. Owners are always attentive and discreet. Rooms are very clean and adequately equipped for a superior three-star. The pool requires more cleaning. Suggestive night lighting and the "terrace over the fields" especially in the evening. Absolute peace and relaxation. Suitable for couples and friends traveling together. Not suitable for noisy groups or families with children traveling in groups. Breakfasts are noteworthy, simple, varied, and of excellent quality. Buffet well set up and well organized. The cleaning lady is attentive. Dining room service definitely needs improvement. Excellent cappuccino prepared by Laura. Coffee bar service available, as per the website, with snacks, cocktails, non-alcoholic bitters, and sandwiches on request, we are told, and prices appropriate to the context. Large and well-kept parking lot, with adequate evening lighting. Typical country farmhouse roads. The surrounding areas are well served by small restaurants, pizzerias, seaside places, and small grocery shops. The city is a few kilometers away. Fortunately, far from traffic, noise, and city hustle and bustle. Recommended.
The Nature Reserves of Cavagrande del Cassibile are splendid, as is the Vendicari Nature Reserve, unfortunately full of smelly algae.
Noto is chaotic, very sunny, infernal heat.
Marzamemi is very nice, too crowded, very touristy.
Beaches are unusable, too crowded, smelly, dirty and chaotic, as is the historic center of Syracuse.
Oh well. We'll go elsewhere next year.
Very beautiful and charming agriturismo. Suggestive evening lighting. A nice pool that needs more attention. Spacious and well-kept parking. WIFI is well present throughout the property. The WIFI signal reaches far beyond. Top breakfasts for a three-star Superior. Very good cappuccino. We ordered 4 each (paying for them, of course). Tart and almond pastries... delicious!! Extra café service with snacks and sandwiches on request. Umbrellas that create nice shade. Owners present and discreet. Staff needs improvement, annoying coming and going, indiscreet, curious and not in tune with the context. Clean rooms, although we note that the lady from the cleaning company, contracted with the property, had not cleaned the shower in the bathroom. In the evening we sat on the terrace overlooking the fields and enjoyed the peace and quiet while sipping a non-alcoholic drink. Agriturismo suitable for those who love a relaxing and peaceful holiday. Due to an oversight, we forgot to pay for two or three bottles of water taken from the room minibar. Slight hiccup with the POS connection, which can happen in isolated countryside areas, but it was immediately resolved by the owner with Pay by Link and IBAN transfer. Too bad you can't have dinner here. For now, that's what Mrs. Laura told us. Excellent value for money. They should raise the prices. Another positive note is the presence of a security camera.
Raise the prices!!
We don't understand why they haven't granted the license for the sale of alcohol to this agriturismo. What a shame.
Chaotic, noisy and dirty beaches full of dog droppings and more. Same goes for the historic center, extremely crowded, smelly, fights, broken bottles, screams, shouts, filth. Fights and brawls everywhere.
Tents set up on the beaches with camping, baked pasta, cutlets and "melon parties"!!...Are you serious...??
I notice a real disappointment. Infernal heat. Infernal confusion.
We went because we wanted to taste the exquisite sweets (granitas, almond pastries, ice creams, hard pieces...) of a renowned city café that is popular both on social media and among high-level food critics... alas, what a disappointment... "the granita with oysters..." that's just not right... maybe they've changed management!!
Mrs. Laura makes a delicious almond granita, clearly superior to the much-praised one from Cafe Sicilia in Noto, yet no high-level magazine has ever talked about her and her sweet delights. For years, her breakfasts have been mentioned in reviews. Shame.
We recommend a virtual tour on her website www.ungrammodizucchero.it to all those gentlemen who pose as "food critics", food inspectors and Michelin inspectors.
Marzamemi is always very nice, but extremely crowded, very expensive and commercial.
What can I say... MAH...
BETTER TO VACATION ELSEWHERE, even though this agriturismo, now in "radical chic" style, really deserves it.
Silence and tranquility. Very good breakfast and quality products. The yellow melon they offered us was exquisite, which we were told was purchased locally. Breakfast outside was very charming in the garden area, but there were few umbrellas open and the tables were set too close together. Clean room with a well-stocked mini fridge. Extra coffee bar service was adequate. We asked for a "pane cunzatu" which was delicious and we paid €3.50 each for it. We don't understand why this agriturismo cannot serve alcohol to guests, since we are customs officers. Even though we are informed that they are working on it with quite a few difficulties: what a shame for this city of Syracuse...!! Pharmacy very close by. The "terrace overlooking the fields" is very impressive. Owners always present and very discreet. Staff appropriate for the context with a few things to improve, for us who love privacy and tranquility. WIFI is well present throughout the facility and in our room. The pool requires more attention. The sea is very close. A clean city. The historic center is impassable in the evening, too chaotic and with strong, often nauseating smells. You can pay with either cash or credit card. You notice a bit everywhere, wandering around, the laziness, the very approximate attitude and the "leave for tomorrow what you can do today," typical of a people. Prices skyrocket throughout the city and in nearby towns, as in other seaside tourist areas, so you are forced to go around in shorts, flip-flops, and a tank top if you don't want to get "cleaned out." In a well-known supermarket in the city, they charged us for items we didn't buy. What a SHAME!!
We feel we can highly recommend this agriturismo, which deserves it. Luckily they are equipped with surveillance cameras. WELL DONE...!!
Raise the prices.
Will we return to Sicily?...Who knows...
Beautiful countryside location, but... with a renovation in a style that's a bit too "out of the ordinary." Very few "valuable typical architectural lines maintained" which those who renovated did not know how to preserve. Not up to par. Too much invasive concrete, more suitable for a "small villa" in a nearby village. Little rustic stone, typical and characteristic of the rural areas of the place, and areas with poorly distributed and overly sunny spaces. The rooms should have been fewer in number and more spacious and large. At least some greenery has been preserved with a few fruit trees, lawn, jasmines, some typical plants, a small lemon grove, dry stone walls, an imposing mulberry tree, a centuries-old ficus, a typical country lane, and two olive trees, the dovecote, the threshing floor, the well, a small flowered well, a stone arch. We were informed that someone X, completely unbeknownst to the owners, ordered the felling of beautiful almond, loquat, and centuries-old olive trees, and figs along the lane and elsewhere, "to allow tractors to circulate in the cultivated fields." Pure madness!!!...WHAT AN INDESCRIBABLE OUTRAGE...!! Quiet place for relaxation and peace. The breakfasts are worth it: simple, genuine, with local and classic products, abundant and rich. The hot drink made to order is included in the breakfast price and is served at the table. The cappuccino is remarkable. We pleasantly noticed that the tea is prepared with bottled natural mineral water. At the "console" of the breakfast café and reception is Laura. Special mention for the tart, almond pastries, sponge cake... Table and buffet service is a bit too present, not very in tune with the typical privacy of the place. Also, it's not appropriate to take food from the buffet table, either during service or while clearing. Dirty cups and glasses remain on the tables for a long time. Needs improvement. Clean rooms. Clean bathroom. Minibar with various drinks. Price list clearly visible at Reception. Why is this agriturismo not equipped with a license to serve alcohol? It's not very clear, but it seems that it has been hindered. Also, we are told that this agriturismo has been authorized for a maximum of 47 beds when in reality, in our opinion as Public Health and Hygiene Officers and as an Architect, it could accommodate about 20. It is not a Hostel nor a Tourist Village nor a tourist brothel. It would be nice to be able to have dinner here in the evening, even with a pizza or in any case with typical and/or quick dishes (big salads, bruschetta, mixed appetizers, cheeses and cold cuts...), and we are told that they are already trying to provide for this. Tipping the STAFF is neither mandatory nor due (we are not in America!!!!) and any subtle request by the staff on duty is off-putting... and not a little. Ms. Milena gave us information during our stay and we noticed that she takes care of the staff on duty. Pleasant and relaxing in the evening the "terrace over the fields" sipping a cocktail or a "little beer"... non-alcoholic. The night lighting is evocative. Inside the common rooms, lovely plants make the environment even more pleasant. The pool requires more care and attention. Absolutely recommended. "Tres chic" place, absolutely not suitable for families with small children or large and noisy groups, who would disturb and ruin the precious landscape and natural context typical of this place.
Fortunately, well equipped with WIFI and security cameras.
It seems that this agriturismo has been shamefully targeted by "unknown" locals for several years, with various acts of vandalism and sabotage, who want to manage it at all costs. WHAT A SHAME to still hear about these things in 2025.
Raise the prices.
We liked something.
Pool not well cleaned with horrible plastic chairs.
Very annoying coming and going of workers and various laborers, which is quite bothersome.
Some enter with vans and cars beyond the gate. Room cleaning needs improvement: the bathroom requires more attention from the cleaning company.
Some things need to be reviewed.
Positive note: THE BREAKFASTS, the sunset on the lovely "terrace over the fields", the WIFI, the evocative night lighting with small solar spotlights and fairy lights, the tart, the cappuccino, the tranquility, there are no families with children who disturb and no noisy or annoying groups.
We didn't like the classical performances... a bit poor, not up to the social and tourist context of the city in our opinion. Maybe they will become biennial again and we can understand why.
Crowded beaches with people who are very disturbing: balls flying, people picnicking with various foods, dogs running around and defecating, children running and kicking up sand and stepping on you, teenagers playing football... and serious trouble if you scold them... you risk being beaten up!!!
Historic center of Syracuse is unwalkable, extremely crowded and with a nauseating smell of sewage and fried food, people shouting, furious brawls, broken bottles,...
As soon as they see a tourist, they rip you off even with the prices.
Parking in the center always full.
Police everywhere.
We went to Noto and Marzamemi... rudeness, often poor and makeshift tourist catering, despite some being praised by food and pastry critics as an undisputed "GURU", infernal heat, crowds and riffraff.
We highly recommend the site www.ungrammodizucchero.it by Laura, as others have already written.
We strongly advise food critics and Michelin and restaurant inspectors in Italy to change jobs, they have destroyed good Italian cuisine and buried those who actually deserve it.
WHAT A SHAME.
Beautiful Massaria, too modern in its architectural renovation. But that's a matter of perspective. The breakfasts are good, genuine and of excellent quality. Absolute tranquility and relaxation.
Staff in service a bit too present. It's a pity you can't have dinner here. Tip NOT required. Nearby areas are well supplied with everything. Pharmacy available in the area. Sea just a stone's throw away. Nature reserves not too far. WIFI well available. TV and air conditioning in the room. As described on the website.
Raise the prices because the place deserves it.
Excellent tart and almond pastries prepared by Laura
We will return next year and bring friends.
Thank you for the hospitality.

POSITIVE: The terrace overlooking the "radical chic" fields - Soft lighting in the evening - Cleanliness and rooms well cleaned and tidy - Genuine and mixed breakfasts - Silence, tranquility and relaxation - Discretion - Select environment - The lady who serves at the table is not intrusive - Owners always present and "on the ball" - No children making noise and no noisy families - Excellent tart - Everything you need nearby - Shaded areas created with umbrellas and large pots with plants
NEGATIVE: Prices too low - They don't serve alcohol - No restaurant service, not even in the evening with cold dishes, which they say will be provided as soon as possible - Plastic chairs by the pool.
Hands off this agriturismo.!!
We liked everything.
I was traveling with my sister, my niece, and a friend.
This trip to Sicily reminded me of the exquisite parfaits from the once famous Caviezel of Catania, after tasting the delicious zabaglione ice cream with biscuit and pieces of white chocolate prepared by Laura, who is very attentive to the cleanliness and hygiene of the buffet area and the café.
Ms. Milena was particularly attentive to the staff, tourist information, and hospitality, always available.
At the breakfast table service, Mrs. Eleonora was discreet, not intrusive.
Noteworthy were the cappuccino, the tart, the cheeses, the fruit...etc.
We will return to Sicily, maybe soon.
It's a pity there is no restaurant service, especially in the evening.
The "terrace over the fields" is delightful. Very simple but elegant in its own way and impressive.
Beaches are unusable, very crowded with riffraff.
Classical performances this year were not up to par.
Historic center unusable: crazy confusion in the evening, nauseating smells, dirt, noise, fights, people shouting and very noisy.
To get to the city from the seaside areas there are endless lines: at this point, it is better to choose another tourist destination.
Splendid.
Trip to Sicily on behalf of a renowned and luxurious restaurant of a famous French hotel chain.
Discovering very particular flavors, not necessarily Sicilian. Quite the opposite.
The "confit yolk" sauce and the Russian sauce with fresh mint prepared by Laura were spectacular.
We were privately recommended by some who vacationed at this farmhouse and who last year tasted the mint sauce and almond pastries.
We recommend Laura's website www.ungrammodizucchero.it.
Gastronomic and pastry critics would do better to change jobs, as someone else has already written.
Those who truly deserve it have been brought down by riffraff.
We hope the gentlemen will excuse us if we forgot to pay for the items taken from the minibar in the room.
We will return. Soon.
Hands off this farmhouse.!!
Absolute relaxation and tranquility.
We forgot to pay for the water taken from the minibar in the room.
We would really love to live in this wonderful farmhouse, but we are told the owners won't sell it.
What a SHAME...!!! Oiboooo'...!!
A bit sunny, but they have created shaded areas with umbrellas and plants.
Clean rooms.
Top breakfasts, with a variety of products, absolutely superior to a three-star.
We recommend Laura's website www.ungrammodizucchero.it
Staff on duty present, maybe a bit too much and not very discreet.
We noticed a coming and going of staff while we were relaxing in the pool, which is quite disturbing.
Attentive and very discreet owners.
Too bad about the plastic chairs in the pool area, not in harmony with this pleasant country masseria.
WIFI well available.
Suitable for couples, singles, friends traveling together.
Luckily there were no families with children and noisy, annoying groups.
A real paradise...!!
We will send some friends. Well supplied with everything nearby.
Beach too crowded and unusable due to the presence of rather annoying and dirty people: they damaged our car and deflated the tires.
Good "VIENNESE" ice cream cake, locally produced in the area, which was served to us, at our request at sunset, on the lovely "terrace over the fields" with a non-alcoholic cocktail.
Shameful that this tourist facility has not been authorized to serve alcoholic beverages. Grounds for complaint.
Historic center unusable, dirty, with nauseating smells, brawls, confusion, and scams on purchases. It feels like being in Ibiza.
Maniace Castle closed, and we had come specifically to visit it.
The classical performances disappointed us... and not a little. Surely they will try to bring them back every two years.
What a shame.!!
Surely this farmhouse has been targeted by the "mob" from who knows which area of Italy and perhaps by riffraff from the same city of Syracuse, as can be seen from various serious acts of vandalism. We also discovered, after much insistence on our part, that Laura has suffered several serious incidents (some unspeakable due to their severity), harassment, blackmail, lawsuits, summary trials, threats of all kinds and her license is semi-blocked and she is forced to undergo humiliations every few years in front of an examining commission of the ASP of Syracuse.
SHAME ON YOU.
You have done everything to get Syracuse and its artistic and architectural beauties into the UNESCO heritage, but you are doing just as much to make it all collapse.
Very beautiful Sicilian Masseria even though, in our opinion, the wall renovation is not in line with the typical Sicilian rural style. Too much cement, which would be fine for a small villa in some nearby village. It's a shame that those responsible allowed this to happen. It's nice to see some restoration of the interior spaces where some important rural features typical of the countryside and characteristic furnishings remain. Fortunately, they did not modify the country lane and the dry stone wall. For the rest, in our opinion, too much cement, too little stone and few trees (some were cut down, we are told, without the owners' knowledge... HORROR..,!!), typical of these buildings, so the structure remains a bit sun-drenched: perhaps the workers were not trained or specialized in this type of renovation work. Luckily, the owner has placed umbrellas and shade plants. The pool requires more attention and the plastic chairs are out of place!! Large parking area, typical of the countryside. Staff suitable for a superior three-star. Owners always attentive and discreet. Very good breakfast. Soft evening outdoor lighting with small solar spotlights and a nice effect, terrace overlooking the fields is delightful... very simple and "chic" in its own way. Beautiful sunsets. Clean and tidy rooms. Wifi well present both inside and outside. At the reception, a menu with price list and some snacks available, as described on the website. Well-stocked minibar in the room. It is not clear why they have not been authorized to serve alcohol. A demerit note for this lovely city.
The area is well served in the neighborhood. It's a shame that some LOCAL BUSINESSES in the area do not issue a receipt and this is inconvenient: we went to both a pizzeria and a fruit shop nearby... the pizza was very good and the fruit delicious but despite paying cash, no receipt, and they get quite annoyed if you ask, it seems, almost to the point of insulting you!! Well... Certain managements should be reviewed!! Crowded, chaotic beaches, unfortunately a bit dirty in some areas. As is also the city center of Ortigia. Maniace Castle closed. What a pity!! We will return with a couple of friends to visit Noto Marzamemi and Portopalo which, being further south, are warmer and so we will choose a different period. We had a very good experience at the Agriturismo which is very well managed and we would be happy to be their guests again. THANK YOU Antica Gebbia. See you soon.
Massaria immersed in the heart of the Sicilian countryside dating back to the late 1800s. The exterior renovation is very cemented and rough. Unfortunately, the guidelines for the renovation of well-dated typical ancient rural buildings were not respected. Probably the Superintendency was dozing. Few trees in the context because, we are told, some were cut down without the owners' knowledge. HORROR...!! The furnishing of the interior spaces and the finishes, on the other hand, were in harmony with the rural context despite some slightly personal touches, but acceptable. 47 beds are neither acceptable nor feasible, at most no more than about 20 considering the EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL spaces. We would have given even 10 but unfortunately we witnessed a very shameful "tragedy" all "Sicilian style" absolutely deplorable: the waitress insulted the owners by shouting and swearing at them several times, getting "face to face" with one of them, who, as we understood, was asking for more attention during the management of the service entrusted to her and more HYGIENE during work, given the high temperatures... and not only that... then the brother of the woman also showed up. CRAZY STUFF...!!! In 2025 this is not acceptable: if you work in a serious and respectable establishment you must be up to what you do, you must be WELL QUALIFIED, and you have a day off to manage your private life, which should not concern the establishment you work for. Who knows, maybe it was all a set-up and a "tailor-made trick prepared at the table" because she had found another job?? But doesn't the union ever protect the hotel owner?? No??... What a SHAME, because this is a big blow to the seriousness and image of the establishment itself, of Syracuse and Sicily and it is necessary to TAKE ACTION. WITHOUT IF AND WITHOUT BUT!!... "Ironically" and coincidentally, we found ourselves with a dead car battery and Laura with a flat tire. Room and bathroom very clean. The lady who cleaned the rooms was discreet and efficient. Breakfast was very welcome and more than pleasant, quite refreshing, and simple with croissant, donut, cookies, tart, cold cuts, cheeses, focaccia. The presence of
yogurt, fruit juices, DELICIOUS FRESH FRUIT bought locally and lemonade with juice from Syracuse lemons and fresh mint leaves was very much appreciated. The almond granita with espresso coffee and the mochaccino with coffee and chocolate were exquisite. Very hot and sultry, with high temperatures for us, which actually allows you to go out only at certain times of the day. The stay at the pool was pleasant, though a bit neglected. NO to plastic chairs in the pool: they really clash with the context. The evening lighting with solar spotlights and the evocative and simple "terrace over the fields" was very impressive. The structure is very sunny, due to the improper cutting of imposing centuries-old trees without the owners' knowledge ("because the tractor" couldn't pass... PURE MADNESS...!!), it was shaded by Laura temporarily with umbrellas and large pots with plants. The little pepper tree at the entrance on the gate is very nice and the lighting on the trunk is very effective: too bad it was conspicuously and shamefully damaged and sabotaged and is almost dry. Milena takes care of the staff and NOT THE KITCHEN, and she gave us some interesting explanations about the city of Syracuse and the surrounding areas such as Noto, Marzamemi, and Portopalo. We noticed too much coming and going of people around the structure, which is not good and needs to be monitored, given the continuous theft during the working seasons of past years of numerous pairs of sheets, towels, hairdryers, bathroom kits, vacuum cleaners, food, drinks, chairs, tables... etc etc.. as we were told. Put large pots in front of the main entrance gate to prevent the entry of various vehicles...!!! We were very pleased to keep Laura's private contact who was able to immediately manage a very embarrassing and emergency situation with the staff. We want to return next year too, hoping that the same management will always be there and that Laura will always take care of the breakfasts as well. See you soon. Thank you Antica Gebbia.
A cheerful group of young people, invited to a wedding at the Donna Coraly Resort, stayed at Antica Gebbia. Mrs. Lucia Pascarelli, owner of Donna Coraly, made sure that the wedding guests had the best comforts and the most beautiful facilities in the area. Special mention to Laura of Antica Gebbia who was very efficient and PROFESSIONAL in all her work performances. Clean rooms. The cleaning ladies, due to an oversight, forgot to record the consumption of 16 extra bottles of water and with 55°C in the sun, water is a very precious commodity and has its value. Milena entertained the young group in conversation and provided support in various areas of the facility, although a bit clumsily she, her father or her mother, who are very elderly, seem to have broken the handle of the door to the common room, giving access to the internal area, leaving the internal entrance open to possible strangers. This did not give us much security during the night, alas, because the agriturismo was accessible to anyone who might have sneaked in. The "father and mother", being very elderly, are a bit out of place in the work and management context of this facility, which in fact presents some discomforts, however, well manageable in the future. In fact, the pool cared for by the elderly man requires much more attention, remaining very dirty on the bottom along the edges. The presence of a very elderly person, the "mother", not qualified for catering, during breakfast service who "puts her hands in the buffet", despite being continually invited to leave the buffet room, is quite out of place, especially with the high summer temperatures, and creates organizational and management discomforts, we noticed, as well as overshadowing the image of professionalism of the catering (breakfast) of Antica Gebbia and Laura, trying to impose her own incorrect instructions at all costs, moreover prompted by Ms. Milena, we noticed.
Excellent breakfast with local products from small artisans in the area and homemade, selected ad hoc by Laura, and with some products always prepared by Laura. Very good cappuccino and mokaccino with dark chocolate prepared by Laura. The buffet was very well set up, suitable for a rustic agriturismo of a certain "three-star superior" country style (photos and videos on INSTAGRAM). The extra cafeteria service worked well: we requested stuffed sandwiches and "caprese", very good and with very professional packaging, prepared locally by a trusted supplier of Laura, which were delivered and served to us at the pool, at the scheduled time, by Laura. We were informed by outsiders that the packaging used for the "caprese" was specially designed by Laura and other professionals in the sector, when she previously worked externally for the Air Force. IT IS ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE that you cannot have lunch here. You can have a quick meal like a "snack". NO to the plastic chairs at the pool. During our stay we found a broken pool umbrella: whoever takes care of the pool area, I believe the "father", should pay much more attention. At a certain age, the elderly should devote themselves to something else without hindering the work of others, we are told by several people. In the evening or during the day, it is not clear who and why, caused a serious inconvenience/sabotage to the facility by emptying three huge water tanks/cisterns of about 5000 liters of water each, for the exclusive use of the tourist facility. Fortunately, Laura promptly resolved the problem, preventing the inconvenience from becoming even more serious, given the high outside temperatures of 55°C in the sun, the intense sultry heat, the high and very low humidity, and the possible consequences of a very serious imminent danger of food poisoning, which is also very frequent in Sicily during the summer, since we had to go to the wedding. We will return in September or next year because we really liked the agriturismo...!!! THANK YOU ANTICA GEBBIA.
We were also among the guests at the wedding with entertainment at Donna Coraly and we stayed at Antica Gebbia Agriturismo.
Among the guests were Bolshoi ballerinas, incognito.
All the positive notes about Agriturismo Antica Gebbia can be read in the other reviews.
No need to repeat ourselves.
NEGATIVE NOTES:
The pool was very dirty along the edges and poorly maintained. The plastic pool chairs, NO THANKS, and a broken umbrella.!!!
OTHER NEGATIVE NOTES: concern the reception at Donna Coraly... I don't know if this is the right place for such a review.
We expected much more from the buffet at Resort Donna Coraly but alas, as an aperitif/cocktail there was only one table with large mozzarella, some cheese, and raw red shrimp, which is now very out of fashion, "old style". In our opinion, the culinary preparations were not up to the standard of the location or the type of event.
Very few or no typical Sicilian specialties. There were no arancinette, scacciatine, frittatine, the Catanese ones with tuma and anchovies, olives and seasoned cherry tomatoes, caponatina, bobbia, little red pizzas, bombette with ham and cheese, small parmigianas, pasta frittatine, potato croquettes... panelline... and also... cream puffs and puff pastries with various fillings... breaded vegetables... the cone with fried fish... fresh "baby vegetable" salads... small caprese... and more... which in our opinion should have been there... we are in Sicily, not elsewhere...!!!... Several complaints among the guests about the disappointing buffet.
Not to mention the "frittella degli sposi", served on a paper napkin, like in an elementary school cafeteria.
Catering NOT UP TO THE CONTEXT and the EVENT.
The "shuttle" was supposed to leave Antica Gebbia at 3:30 pm but instead, by 3:10 pm the hostess had already arrived at the property, urging us: young yes, but we're not kids.
One of the guests did a roll call loudly to see if we were all there... and privacy...??
At the tables, the place cards, in addition to the name, also indicated the city of origin... privacy, this unknown...!!!
The evening at Kukua Beach, nothing special, more for young teenagers of a certain type, and the welcome with a card (with a type of writing more suitable for conference attendees and overall not very suitable for the chic tone of the wedding).
WEDDING PLANNER NOT UP TO THE CONTEXT OR THE EVENT.
POSITIVE NOTE worthy of mention:
the almond pastries given as a gift to the guests staying at ANTICA GEBBIA, which, moreover, it seems, have often been a proposal and a very successful idea by Laura of Antica Gebbia, an idea also proposed by Laura as a gift to the actors at the Classical Performances at the Greek Theatre of Syracuse.
Well...!!
It will be a pleasure to return to Syracuse, which we did not have time to visit, and stay at ANTICA GEBBIA where we had a good time.
Precious was the advice from Laura of Antica Gebbia, present 24/7, who directed us to a rustic country farm in the area to buy very good local cheeses.
Wonderful. All good. See you soon and until next time.!!
EVERYTHING BEAUTIFUL and everything good.
THE ALMOND PASTRIES, THE TART, THE CAPPUCCINO, THE FROZEN SNACK WITH CHOCOLATE AND PEANUTS, THE TURKISH SALAMI prepared by Laura were exquisite. The selection of local cold cuts and cheeses was delicious. The homemade savory sauces were very good. Homemade citrus marmalade. THE ONLY FLAW WAS THE POOL, managed by an elderly person, which requires much more care and attention in cleaning. By mistake, we entered the street opposite following the wrong directions we were given in the area, even though the ANTICA GEBBIA sign is clearly visible.
Rooms well cleaned and tidy.
Very clean facility.
The terrace overlooking the fields is very impressive.
Ms. Milena is very kind.
Value for money more than good and convenient.
Slight inconvenience at check out with the POS, due to a general TIM blackout throughout the city, immediately resolved by Laura at the reception.
Recommended.
